So the Royal Bahamian is another amazing resort from the Sandals collection. We truly enjoyed our stay here! and certainly learned a few things from our stay at Ocho Rios that helped us enjoy our time even more.
Location: Nassau, Bahamas
Travel Date: May 2006
Length of stay: 4 nights
My Rating: * * * *
Pros: This resort is beautiful!! Again, we love the larger resorts that make us feel like we have room to spread out and be by ourselves if we choose. There are 2 very large pools with swim-up bars as well as 4 other smaller pools and whirlpools through the resort. One of
the pools overlooks the ocean so that's an added bonus if you want to do both worlds at once! The beach was a very good size and it was clean. The staff was also great. They greeted us with champagne and cold towels on arrival. Another positive is the distance from the airport is only about 15 minutes!
Cons: There aren't really too many cons in this place, except maybe minor things that can annoy people. For one, the beach vendors. Sometimes I just want to lay there in peace and not be asked if I want to buy something every 30 minutes. They weren't pushy at all though. You could just shake your head and make a "no" gesture and they kept on walking. Another thing that you may find annoying is that there seemed to be quite the competition for beach spots. Maybe it was the time of year we went, but it seemed a little more obnoxious than usual. I'm certainly not one to get up at 5am, to grab a spot on the beach. I like my sleep! After all, I'm on vacation, right?
Rooms: We were in the top floor of the Manor building. Our room was oceanfront which was great, however there wasn't really a balcony. I guess it can be described as sort of a ledge? You could lean up against the railing and taken in the amazing view! The Manor building is just a few feet from the water. From our room you could see the private island. As far as the rest of the room, it was comfortable. We had a mini-bar, which is key for us. I don't know about you guys, but the room is one of the most important things when I book a trip. I need to feel as if I never left my own as far as the comfort level goes.
Food: We felt like there was a lot of variety in the restaurants at this Sandals. We tried Kimonos, Spices, Ristorante Casanova & of course the usual buffet one night, just to take it all in. Overall, we found the food to be very satisfying and it was presented well with really good services from the waiting staff. This resort also has a lot of food choices that are good throughout the day.
Well, that's it on this one! From what I hear from friends that have vacationed there more recently, it is still a great place to go to truly relax away from children and noise.
Until next time.... =)
